The businesses of Bayside have a beautiful way of turning personal pain into purpose, and Damian from @vida_lifestyles is one of the most powerful examples of that truth. What began with his own battle with chronic fatigue — and a frustration with being told to simply ‘change his lifestyle’ — sparked a 30-year journey into naturopathy, chiropractic care, and nutrition, and a deep belief that the body already holds everything it needs to heal itself.
How long have you been in the business?
A Naturopath for 30 years & a Chiropractor 20 years. I started with accounting but didn’t love it so left and became a naturopath. I then went to NZ for 5 years and studied to become a Chiropractor.

What inspired you to start your business?
I initially got into the wellness space because of health challenges of my own (chronic fatigue). I was frustrated at only being prescribed lifestyle changes to help me, but when I started seeing a Chiropractor, the impact was immediate. It was through this journey I fell in love with the philosophy ‘the power that made the body heals the body’. This made me want to dedicate my voice to helping people understand they have the unique ability to heal. The difference with Chiropractic work is that we are not looking to treat the body, but help the body restore itself through the removal of interference – toxins, negative thinking, stress etc.
What’s the magic that sets your business apart?
The Vida space is an open plan, family vibe which encourages community and conversation. I am passionate about educating the community. I liken it to being one big whānau and bringing everyone together in a group healing space (Marae) using all of our collective energy to help restore.
