Day 5 of Businesses of Bayside

Celebrating the local legends who make our community thrive! Today, we’re featuring Steve from Sandy Village Cellars @sandy_village_cellars , a bottle store on a mission to connect the local community.

Here’s Steve’s story…

How long have you been in business?

16 months – been in the industry for over 25 years.

What was your inspo for starting?

I love the industry, I love community & I have a passion for wine – so thought, why not bring it all together!

Any new & exciting plans on the horizon?

Yes! One of my main focuses is to do things that help bring the community together, so I applied for general license so people can come in for a cheeky glass of wine and hang out and attend wine classes, gin classes, community events etc. To create a local meeting place.

Why did you choose this location?

I love the Sandringham community and wanted to be a local independent so I could support local wines. A place locals can call their own.

If your business was a person, how would you describe it’s personality?

Quirky with a good sense of humour and open to all kinds!

What is the best compliment you have received from a customer?

Nothing better than when someone comes in for a wine recommendation, loves it and then keeps coming back for recommendations.

What is your favourite cocktail?

Spicy marg – without doubt!

Is there a small Bayside business you love and want to shout out?

Annie from Lucky Star Bakery (24 Waltham St, Sandringham). She is the best. Always a smile on her face and always so positive. And a very hard worker!

What is something you do every day without fail?

A quality check on the frozen margarita’s!

What is something you want to share that everyone may not be aware of?

Every Friday night (4pm – 7pm) we have wine tastings so I can share new and different local wines with the community.

Let’s support local! If you love businesses like Sandy Village Cellars, give them a follow, drop by, and spread the word!
