Among the diverse Businesses of Bayside, few make as profound an impact on young lives as Jayne’s specialized yoga studio, where ancient mindfulness practices meet modern childhood challenges to create lasting transformation.
Day 9 of Businesses of Bayside
Celebrating the local legends who make our community thrive! Today, we’re featuring Jayne from @jem_childrens_yoga – a yoga studio specialising in yoga therapy to children.
Here’s her story…
How long have you been in business?
6.5 years (incl 2 years through covid which was interesting – but we managed to continue with yoga therapy via zoom)
What inspired you to start this business?
I was practicing yoga myself and seeing great benefits and also teaching children at kinder, but I felt something was missing. So I decided to start a yoga studio so I could share the amazing benefits with children in the community.
What is the most rewarding part of your business?
Seeing the children change through the benefits of yoga therapy. It is supporting them by teaching self regulation and mindfulness – important given the hectic world we now live in. It helps kids manage their day by being able to control their mind and their body. It also helps them with self love & confidence.
What is the best compliment you have received?
One of the Mum’s commented that their child has changed so much. That by having the yoga therapy, they are a different person now – so content and they couldn’t be more happy that they found Jem Children’s yoga.
Are there any local Bayside businesses you love and want to shout out?
My mentor Loraine from @zenergykidsyoga
Sandi from @sandigermankinesiology
Helen from @ms.h_lifestyle

If your business had a signature cocktail, what would it be?
The ‘Downward dog’ – made with amaretto sour
What do you do every day without fail?
I twist my spine before getting out of bed, do some deep breathing exercises and sit ups.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
Supporting more children in school’s with yoga therapy.
