Businesses of Bayside: Collective Closet

Businesses of Bayside

The businesses of Bayside have a beautiful way of blooming from personal struggles into community sanctuaries, and today we’re uncovering the remarkable story of a visionary who transformed her own skin battles into a passion project that’s now blossomed into an entire ecosystem of beauty, wellness, and sustainable style – proving that sometimes our greatest challenges become the foundation for our most meaningful contributions.

Day 15 of Businesses of Bayside

Celebrating the local legends who make our community thrive! Today, we’re featuring Tayla – Founder of the Beauty Collective @beautycollectiveco – a collection of beauty & wellness spaces including the newest addition Collective Closet @collectiveclosethampton . It’s a wee gem on railway crescent in the heart of Hampton!

Here’s her story…

How long have you been in business?

I have been in the beauty industry for 20 years and started this business 10 years ago. I have had locations across Melbourne, but settled in Hampton 4 years ago. I lease 3 out of the 4 spaces in the crescent as it is my aim to create an experience for my clients that goes beyond beauty treatments.

Tell us about your businesses

I first started Beauty Collective as a place my customers can come to and experience a range of beauty services incl brows, face & body treatments, cosmetic tattooing, injectables & Healite therapy. I love working with my clients to create a treatment plan, customised to their skin needs.
I then introduced wellness retreats under the brand Urban Oasis @urbanoasishampton . I host these retreats in a beautiful space here at our premises in Hampton and also Magnetic island in QLD. We focus on meditation, intuitive healing, dancing, and more!
I have just opened Collective Closet @collectiveclosethampton which is all about combining style with sustainability – giving your pre loved clothing a new home and also an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe from the ‘one of a kind finds’, high quality clothes & accessories available.

What was your inspiration for starting your business?

Through my own personal skin journey with acne, I wanted to help others experiencing similar issues improve their skin and gain their confidence back.

Is there something in particular that you would love people to know about your business?

Creating trust and credibility with our customers is very important to us and we go to great lengths to ensure all of our items are authentic, so so we offer an ‘authenticity refund guarantee’ on all our items.

What is one misconception people have about what you do?

A lot of people think we purchase items outright to sell. No, we sell on consignment on behalf of the general public – consignment meaning ‘an arrangement in which goods are left with a third party to sell’.

Is there a local Bayside business you love and want to shout out?

Bayside shoe care – Frankie & Daniella and @acaibrothers_sandringham – Tonia and team. associated trauma as a result.

Let’s support local! If you love businesses like Tayla’s, give them a follow, drop by, and spread the word!
